MOROCCO

Morocco is a beautiful country.  The mixture of Berber, Arabic and European influence along with the diversity of terrain makes it a wonderful destination for interested travelers.

From Casablanca we made a clockwise trip around the country from Rabat , Chefchaouen (Blue city) to Fez in the north.  We traveled through the Atlas Mountains to Merzouga and had two nights in a Saraha Desert tent.  The colors, lines, shapes and textures of the sand dunes were a photographers delight.  We visited the Dades Gorges, Rose Valley and Ouarzazate, an ancient village on the trading route between Africa  and Europe.  We finished our trip with Marrakech and a couple of days in the coastal village of Essaouira before returning to Casablanca.

On our journey we toured the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, rode camels into the desert sunset and visited several Kasbah’s, Medinas and fascinating markets or souks.  The markets overwhelmed the senses with sights, smells and sounds of every day Moroccan life.  In many ways it was a huge step back in time.

It was a fascinating country of history, changing scenery and beautiful people (who generally prefer not to be photographed).  Another wonderful trip of a lifetime for Robin and Chris.
